If you read the NT, the Sadduces and Pharises were called as Jews right? And yet, it didn't imply that all of em came from tribe of Judah. Sadduces are the priests who came from sub-tribe of Cohen (children of Aaron), hence were Levites themselves. Alas, they're still called Jews anyway.

Both arguments are true. Jesus is a Levite by tribe and he could also be called as a Jew in term of people. In his days, all the children of Israel were known as Jews already regardless of which tribes they came from. I hope Jack get what I mean. I ain't tellin that our Qur'an is wrong here.

in Judaism, the term Jews (Yehudim) and Bnei Yisrael (Children of Israel) are used interchangeably. Although most of Jews nowadays dunno which sub-tribe they come from (except for the tribe of Levi and sub-group of Levi=Cohen), there're still many ppl who can trace their geneology back into tribe of Yehudah.

da point is, the term 'Jews' doesnt necessarily mean for members of tribe of Yehudah. It also pertains to the other tribes of Israel who still survive under kingdom of Yehudah (most of em are of tribe of Yehudah, Benyamin and Levi). They called themselves Yehudim for the fact that they were people of Kingdom of Yehudah (for eg. people of Iraq is Iraqi; of Pakistan is Pakistani etc)

I get wht u mean when you said Jesus isn't Yehudi as he is a Levi. But the term Yehudi for each member of tribe of Yehudah didnt apply anymore since the 1st Destruction of Jerusalem. Jesus came after the 1st destruction, when his ancestors had already returned to the holy land (under Cyrus the Gr8 aka Iskandar Zulkarnain)

Oh jack, am afraid I cudnt agree with u. Jesus is indeed Jewish by ethnic. For his mother Miryam is also Jewish. It's true that she isn't from the tribe of Yehudah (whilst Yosef the carpenter is) since she's a Levite

in bible, there is some doubt in NT in which it tells that jesus is jews because it follow the ynaecology of joseph. however qura confirm that jesus is not a jews as he's followog the gynaecology of mary
